Thanks, Smiles. I went ahead and ordered a new mic, Shure SM58. I'm not sure what equipment I'll need next, so I'm taking it one step at a time.

I'm new to to Blix, but I had been doing some online karaoke on other sites using an MXL 990 condensor mic. I just recently got a NADY SCM 960. The sound on this little mic is incredible. It just makes my voice sound so fat, warm, and it's able to handle a lot of the loud stuff that you throw at it. As for my setup:
1. Nady SCM 960 condensor mic in a spider shock mount with pop screen. 2. Plugged into a Behringer Eurorack UB1202 mixer for EQ settings and phantom power. 3. Mixer is plugged into the line-in jack on a Sound Blaster Elite Pro sound card. 4. The Sound Blaster has onboard compression and reverb. 5. I also sometimes use Cubase to run realtime VST effects that do a really good job of emulating analog tube sound, but the sound card really does a good job of providing all the effects I need.
If anyone is interested, I have a lot of general compression settings that are meant to emulate some vintage 'tube' compressors that were in common use in the 60s and 70s. A lot of studio technicians really like to use the older sound because it has a warmth to it that many feel digital recording lacks.
