We are hearing reports of PC and Mac users having trouble uploading or re-recording that result in a recording not making it all the way or not sounding very good.
We are working to try and figure out what is not working but the good news is that some of these recordings may actually still be on our servers but just didn't make it all the way to you.
If would be a huge help if you could email cs@bix.com with the following info: - Your Bix name - Approximately the date/time when you had the problem - Exactly what you saw that told you that your file was gone - Your computer configuration. In particular which OS and webcam. - The song you were recording
All this info will allow us to sort through a mound of data and try and locate the source of the difficulty.
Thank you very much both for your help getting to the bottom of this as well as your patience in bearing with us.

Hi Heidi,
Thanks for the information, and apologies for the problems. Let's see if we can narrow down the problem a bit. A few questions: - Is this an audio or video contest you're entering? If it's video, did the webcam appear to be working? - What version of Mac OS X are you using? You can find out by clicking on the Apple at the top left of your screen and choosing 'About This Mac'. It'll be right under "Mac OS X". We support 10.3.4 and greater (any version of 10.4 is best). Safari and Firefox should both be fine on those OS X versions. - If this is a video contest, what webcam are you using? Apple's external iSight and built-in iSight are the ones we've tested most thoroughly (we've also had success with some DV cameras). There are known issues with third-party USB webcams on Mac.
Please email your reply to feedback@bix.com.
thanks, john

Hi John,
I think I spoke with you on the phone the other day. I am going to be sending you a dump from MSIE so you can determine if the ActiveX controls are working properly or not.
Also when I tried to upload a video today it kept telling me that I didn't select one and I tried 3 different formats .avi, .wmv and .mov and they all FAILED.
One more suggestion, if you had more help files where people who have problems can try various fixes that would be a good thing.
In the meantime what video file types are supported and what size restrictions are there on the files you upload? mojoflix is 25 or 35 mb, youtube is 10 mins and 100 mb....? I just made a great video and wish to upload it in one of the accapela contests that is ending soon.

Also it would be nice if you could edit or delete your own posts on this forum as I made a duplicate entry I would like to delete under why cant I upload from my own library?
Thanks! I am happy to help if you need help with documentation and other stuff, testing etc...

Hello... If I record audio or video 98% of the time it works. HOWEVER, I have a software program AV VCS 4.0 Diamond and when I click 'record' I'm kicked back to my desktop and must find my way back to Bix again.
I am able to use this software at other Karaoke sites with no problems but would REALLY like to use it here.
What can be done? Thanks for your help, Torch

Hi Torch, I'll try to get a copy of that software and look into it. Sorry you are having trouble.

If you are using an Audigy brand card and the music sounds like it is being compressed back and fourth through a tin can, here is a fix that will make it sound better. With the audigy card, you have to choose 'record what you hear' instead of 'microphone' in order to maintain the vocal effects such as 'concert hall', etc. If the 'record what you hear' slider is pushed up too high, the result of your recording will be that tin can- compression sound. Here is an example of it- www.bix.com/entry/42888
Notice how the vocals sound just fine (REALLY fine.. Hillbilly is awesome) but how the music gets the compression sound. To alleviate this issue, push the slider down under the 'record what you hear' in your sound card properties.

Hey ya'll... I just have a basic sound card..realteck audio 97 or something like that. I purchased a software system on line that seemed the easiest to use but can't use it here...Leonard..any luck with finding this...arrrgghhh... It is called AV Voice Changer Software Diamond 4.0 and trying to contact this company is like trying to contact Spudnik...one phone number is disconnected..another tells you to leave a message...and forget about anyone answering an email! I understand the situation that was mentioned by technic...as when I CAN use this on other sites...I still sound..even the music..like boing-boing-boing..HOWEVER..I can't even come CLOSE to using this on BIX! No matter what I do...turn off speakers, uncheck mic boost, turn speakers away...makes no sense for this since they're off anyway...throw speakers out the window... I didn't buy this to change my voice...who wants to sound like the 'terminator'...not sure if this is supposed to sound like the bug man or Ahnold. If you want to sing nursery rhymes, the child voice does that well but I don't want to use that! Or to compare my voice to Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, George Clooney or whomever else they've got on this dippity do da thing! There are effects such as orchestra and if one would go to KSuperstar (sorry BIX) and give a listen to say Fly Me To The Moon...wow..well, I sound pretty darned good compared to elsewise. SO... Unless someone wants to throw a money contest and let me win the prize money, I'm stuck with what I've got cause I know there sure ain't anyone out there willing to give up cash! So,. if anyone can give me some hints or Leonard you've got some info for me... Thanks ya'll and thanks Nicole for your info but I don't have that sort of sound card. Your help much appreciated! Torch

We are working on a version of our recorder where we give you more control to config it and get it working. Going to test it early next week and get it out to you all. Keep the faith! Best, Leonard

It would be nice to be able to record a song.
I've tried several times and i'm not a novice. I can preview my recording having done it but when i click on save recording i get a message saying 'please record something first'.

My Bix account name is SirFitz. I am using Windows XP, high speed modem, have used IE 6 and 7 and have the following issues. Whenever I try to submit a song, I get an error. It says service request cannot be processed, or something like that. I cannot upload my picture either.
