I'm running IE7 on Vista and as soon as the recorder starts up, IE crashes. I've even deleted the CRecorder ActiveX component and reinstalled it. Any suggestions or details needed regarding my environment? I recall in the 3/15 release that the recorder supported Vista.

Hi Peter, it should support Vista as we are using it here to record. Can you try recording something other than a music entry. For instance go into "create practice entry" on your profile page and click "other" "video" and see if it loads that way? Thanks, Leonard

I've had to downgrade back down to XP already (I've had some other compatibility issues with other drivers work-related, VPN, etc..,), but I do recall trying to record a practice entry with the video option. That also crashed the browser, but I did find out also that my sound card's (Audigy 2 for Notebooks) Vista driver lacked recording capabilities for the time being. Seeing how others have been able to record in Vista, it may be due to the sound card. Thanks for checking into this.

Hi Mae003, can you try creating a practice entry from your profile page in a category other than music? For instance Other > Video. I'd like to see if the recorder works outside of music.
Thanks, Leonard

the standard recorder crashes IE7 (Internet Explorer has stopped working, etc, etc.) in Vista. Still. Contest entry or Practice entry.
It did this when I first installed Vista (Ultimate), then I upgraded my audio drivers, and it let me load the recorder, but it wouldn't actually record AND if I try to Preview, it won't play anything back at all.
I've tried the alternate settings for the recorder, and still nothing.
I've since upgraded the audio drivers again, and now it's back to simply crashing when the recorder starts to load.
The alternate recorder will let me record, IF I blast the audio so the mic can pick it up along with my voice, but crashes if I try to save the entry (and sounds awful regardless).
I have not tried to do a video entry, as I don't have a web cam to use.
I really wanted to enter the Capitol Records contest, but if this doesn't get worked out soon, I won't have a chance to even place, let alone win anything.

Peter, I had the same problem. Try updating to DirectX 10. I did this and now I can use the default recorder with Windows Vista and Explorer 7. It works beautifully!!

Hi all, we've just implemented a way to capture more error info. if your IE browser crashes. However, we only get this data if you select "Send Error Report" when the crash happens, so please select this. As per microsoft's policies, only system/application info for troubleshooting will be sent. Also, if you do encounter these types of crashes, please post info. on this page with as much info such as (the steps you were taking before crash occured, your PC and OS configuration including the type of sound card, the Recorder you are using, and how often it happens).
Best, Raj.
